TERMS OF TRADE
Outline of our services
Exoticshelp provides assistance to New Zealand registered veterinarians with the treatment of the following pet species or groups in their care:
Rats and Mice
Parrots and Parakeets
Canaries and Finches
Chickens, game birds and waterfowl
Turtles and Tortoises
Veterinarians are invited to submit a case by email at any time. However due to various factors, ExoticsHelp makes no assurance that we can respond within a maximum time frame. Generally, a case report will be returned the next business day. Where unusually long delays exist due to other committments, you will be notified by email and you will not be charged for the submission.
Following the written case report you are then welcome to post additional questions regarding the patient via email - fair use policy applies and further charges may apply for ongoing or complex cases.
Limitations of the Service
Exoticshelp is an advisory service. The user remains fully responsible for patient care as set out in the New Zealand Veterinary Council Code of Conduct.
Advice and recommendations made regarding a patient’s care are based on the information supplied by the user to Exoticshelp, the best information available from other sources and the clinical experience of Exoticshelp staff. If the information you supply is incorrect or inadequate, this will affect the quality of the report produced.
The field of veterinary medicine is constantly changing. Users are encouraged to source information from other resources where they see fit. The responsibility for treatment decisions remains with the user. Exoticshelp accepts no liability for patient outcomes.
Fees and Charges
See our FAQs section for current fees.
An Email consultation is booked and conducted for a specific patient. Additional animals require an additional consultation.
Each Email consultation incurs a fee. This fee also allows users to post via email, any additional questions or supplementary information relevant to that case, and receive a timely response. A fair use policy applies. Additional communication regarding the patient will be limited to a reasonable period following the Email consultation.
All fees and charges incurred are invoiced to the user at the conclusion of that calendar month. Invoices are payable to Exoticshelp by the 20th day of the following calendar month.
Late payment of accounts will incur administration fees and collection costs.
Fees and charges are subject to change without notification but will be published on our website.
In the event that you no longer require the Email consultation, fees will not be charged providing you notify us of cancellation before the Email report is sent to you.
Exoticshelp will, to the best of its ability, ensure the security and privacy of information stored within the site. Exoticshelp will not be liable for any damages resulting from any accidental, intentional or malicious breach of this privacy by any other party.
Exotics help will observe all professional and privacy standards as expected of members of the New Zealand veterinary profession.
Ownership of information or materials
Any photographs or other images of patients submitted by users to Exoticshelp will be added to our database. By submitting these, the user grants Exoticshelp the right to use and re-produce those images for teaching or promotional purposes. Any identifying features will be removed to protect the identity of your clinic and your client. It should be noted that in rare animal species, an animal's owner could be inferred simply by the identification of the species. We recommend users exercising judgement in those cases before submitting images.
